It is clear from his photographs that capturing images on film was something Lee McBirney loved.
Leander “Lee” McBirney spent the majority of his life in Tulsa working in the family business – banking. Born in 1880 in Kansas, Lee moved with his older brothers to Tulsa shortly after 1900. In 1911, the McBirney Family and several others, founded the National Bank of Commerce with Lee listed as one of the officers. Later bank records show Lee serving as Assistant Vice President in 1944.
It is clear from his photographs that capturing images on film was something Lee McBirney loved. His photography ranges from landscapes to candid shots of people to images of landmarks across the country. Many of his pictures – especially those of trees – have titles describing the interesting shapes he sees in them.
