What began as a hobby for OU professor of ceramics John Frank quickly turned into an Oklahoma institution…
…when Frank and his family began commercially producing their “Frankoma” pottery in 1933. Using Oklahoma clay, first from the Ada area and later from Sapulpa, Frank’s company produced everything from dinnerware and Christmas ornaments to pieces of art. The popularity of Frankoma creations spawned collectors groups and even an annual meeting each fall near the plant in Sapulpa.
