John Wolf was inducted into the Tulsa Hall of Fame in 2015

Wolf served as minister of All Souls Unitarian Church for more than three decades, beginning in 1960 and retiring as Minister Emeritus in 1995. From 1946 to 1955 he served as a U.S. Naval Reserve chaplain and saw active service in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946.

He received a degree from Illinois Wesleyan University in 1949 in the fields of biology and chemistry.  He earned a theological degree from the Meadville Lombard Theological School at the University of Chicago in 1952, and served two pastorates before coming to Tulsa.

In Tulsa, he was a leader in the Civil Rights movement.  He was a co-founder of the Oklahoma Civil Liberties Union and the Governor’s Human Rights Commission, a member of the National Board of Planned Parenthood and numerous other local and regional interfaith and service boards and committees.

Committed to his denomination, Wolf served in many capacities including: member and officer of the Midwest Conference; Ohio Meadville and southwest District Boards of Directors; Vice-President of the Unitarian Universalist Ministers Association; elected member of the UU Board of Review; and regional representative member of the UU Board of Trustees.

Wolf and his wife, Barbara, have two children, John David and Catherine Elizabeth, and one grandchild, Aaron Michael Wolf-Johnson.

Gary Trennepohl was inducted into the Tulsa Hall of Fame in 2015

Trennepohl grew up in Tulsa living on “Route 66”.  His parents ran the Desert Hills Motel whose iconic neon sign is included in many books about the famous highway.  He served a decade as Oklahoma State University-Tulsa’s first president, starting in 1999, and retiring in late 2014 following a 37-year academic career.  He taught classes at the undergraduate, master’s and doctorate levels, co-authored two college-level finance textbooks, and wrote more than 30 professional journal articles on various financial topics.

Trennephol has served many Tulsa community organizations and boards including the City of Tulsa Economic Development Commission; the Metro Tulsa Chamber Board of Directors; the Tulsa Area United Way; the Oklahoma Academy for State Goals; Leadership Oklahoma (Class XIV) and The Tulsa Air and Space Museum.   He was inducted into the Oklahoma Higher Education Hall of Fame in 2013 for outstanding service to higher education in the state. In 2014 he was recognized by the Spears School of Business as the Outstanding Undergraduate Professor, and Oklahoma State University presented him the “Loyal and True Award” for service to the University.

Gary and his wife, Sandra, have two daughters, Paige Lee and Adrienne Wagner, a granddaughter, Olivia Grace Wagner, and a grandson, Jaxon Gary Lee.

Mary Ann Hille was inducted into the Tulsa Hall of Fame in 2015

Coming to Tulsa in the late 1940’s with her parents and two brothers marked the beginning of putting down Oklahoma roots.  Hille attended Tulsa Public Schools through high school, then Oklahoma University, completing her Bachelor of Arts degree at The University of Tulsa.  Later, she received a master’s degree in Human Relations from the University Center at Tulsa, graduating magna cum laude.

Hille has received the Tulsa Area United Way Clydella Hentschel award for Women in Leadership, the YWCA’s Angel Award, and both the Cable Award and Oxford Award from her fraternity, Delta Gamma, for service to the organization and to the community.  She has worked as a high school and elementary school teacher, a case manager, and as a volunteer on numerous boards and service agencies.

Together, she and her husband, Jo Bob, founded the Hille Foundation in 1997 to help meet the needs of the underserved in the greater Tulsa area.  She currently serves as President and a trustee for the Hille Foundation.

She and Jo Bob raised three daughters, Leslie Hamrick, Sheila Lequerica, and Maggie Yar, and one son, Cory Hille.  She has seven marvelous grandchildren, Emma, Evan, Gus, Theo, Lily, Joe Bob, and Ruby.

Frederic Dorwart was inducted into the Tulsa Hall of Fame in 2015

Dorwart was the United States National High School Extemporaneous Speaking Champion in 1954, the year he was graduated from Muskogee Central High School. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in engineering with distinction from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1959 and served in the Navy until 1965. He was awarded an L.L.B. cum laude from Harvard Law School in 1966. From 1967 until 1994, he served as President and of Counsel with Holliman, Langholz, Runnels & Dorwart, before founding his current practice, Frederic Dorwart, Lawyers.

Dorwart is President and Trustee of the George Kaiser Family Foundation and currently serves as a director of the Tulsa Community Foundation, Tulsa Educare, Inc., the Tulsa Regional Chamber of Commerce, and is on sabbatical as a Trustee of The University of Tulsa. He is the Honoree of the Frederic Dorwart Chair in Energy Law at The University of Tulsa School of Law and also serves as a Member of the Dean’s Advisory Board. He was an organizer of Tulsa Stadium Improvement District and has served as General Counsel to Tulsa Stadium Trust since 2008.

He and his wife, Nanu, have three children, Marc, Erica and Laura, and three grandchildren.

Dorothy DeWitty was inducted into the Tulsa Hall of Fame in 2015

Ms. DeWitty had a 30-year career with the Tulsa Public Schools, serving as a classroom educator and principal at Walt Whitman Elementary School.  She was elected to the original Tulsa City Council in 1990 and was the first black female to serve on the new nine-member body.  She received the City Council’s Lifetime Service Award in 2008.

She was the first black female elementary school principal in Tulsa, as well as the first black president of the League of Women Voters.  Ms. DeWitty remained active in civic organizations until her death in 2012 at age 85.

DeWitty received many awards and recognitions including: Tulsa City Council Chamber Library named in her honor; inductee into the Oklahoma Women’s Hall of Fame; Trustee of the Authority Board of the University Center at Tulsa; and first African-American elected President of the former Tulsa Community Action Agency. She authored “Tulsa a Tale of Two Cities,” depicting the history of Tulsa’s African American community.

She was a founding member of Tulsa’s first multicultural Unitarian Church and a founder of the Center for Racial Justice.  She was a member of the Ellis Walker Wood Memorial Society, Delta Kappa Gamma Society and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority.

She has two sons, Delbert and Reginald, nine grandchildren and several great –grandchildren.
