Paula Marshall-Chapman was inducted into the Tulsa Hall of Fame in 2004

Paula Marshall-Chapman grew up in Tulsa and spent her teenage years working at the Bama Companies in various occupations. She received her bachelor of science in business from Oklahoma City University in 1982 and her PhD in commercial science, also from OCU, in 1993. Under her leadership, Bama has expanded to provide a wide variety of frozen desserts and baked goods to fast food chains and casual and family dining restaurants.

Bama supports a wide array of community service activities and organizations financially and with volunteer activities. Bama & Beijing Bama also have adopted schools that they support. Her companies thrive on her philosophy of commitment to employees and providing other people with opportunities and challenges for life improvement.

David Halpern was inducted into the Tulsa Hall of Fame in 2004

David Halpern’s interest in photography began in childhood but remained a hobby while he pursued a career in marketing and public relations until he was 38 and was given his first one-man show. His work is included in several permanent collections and he has served as an artist in residence with the National Park Service, where an exhibition of his photographs commemorating the Service’s 75th anniversary traveled to 40 locations and was seen by more than 400,000 people.

He is a trustee and current President of the Board of Trustees of The Sherwin Miller Museum of Jewish Art in Tulsa. His work has also been widely published, including both editions of Tulsa Art Deco.

John E. Barry was inducted into the Tulsa Hall of Fame in 2004

John E. Barry is a lawyer with the Tulsa law firm of Conner & Winters. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma, he did postgraduate work at the London School of Economics in England under a Fulbright Scholarship, where his roommate was the late Daniel Patrick Moynihan. Mr. Barry currently serves the Tulsa Performing Arts Center Trust, and The John Steele Zink Foundation, and Nimrod International Journal, a literary magazine published by the University of Tulsa. His public service record includes the Philbrook Museum of Art, the Tulsa Chamber of Commerce, the Arts and Humanities Council of Tulsa, Holland Hall School, Tulsa Ballet, and several social service organizations.

P. C. Lauinger was inducted into the Tulsa Hall of Fame in 2004

P. C. Lauinger, a long-time Tulsa business leader, headed the PennWell Corporation, publisher of Oil & Gas Journal and other trade magazines and business information services, from 1931 unti1 1970 and served as chairman emeritus until his death in 1988.

Lauinger was born in Oil City, Pennsylvania and raised in Pittsburgh. He graduated from Georgetown University, joined the Oil & Gas Journal, and upon his father’s death became the third-generation president of the company.

He moved to Tulsa for a half-century career as an oilman’s publisher, civic leader, active churchman, and father of seven children. His single minded pursuit of excellence made the Oil & Gas Journal the “bible of the oil industry.”

Michael D. Case was inducted into the Tulsa Hall of Fame in 2004

Michael D. Case formed Case & Associates Properties in 1983. The company owns and operates more than 23,000 apartment units in six states and several regional shopping centers and office buildings in northeast Oklahoma with a combined value of well over one billion dollars.

He has served on the boards of directors of the Metropolitan Tulsa Chamber of Commerce; the Tulsa, State, and National Apartment Associations; and the Philbrook Museum of Art.He is a past northeastern Oklahoma area Oklahoma Department of Transportation Commissioner.

He contributed to and developed the $10,000,000 Michael D. Case Tennis Center at The University of Tulsa. John McEnroe called the Case Center the greatest collegiate tennis facility in the country.

Cyrus Avery was inducted into the Tulsa Hall of Fame in 2004

Cyrus Stevens Avery was born in 1871 in Pennsylvania and moved with his family to Missouri, where he rode a horse to attend high school. After college and marriage in Missouri, Avery moved to Oklahoma in 1897, settling in the oil boom town of Tulsa in 1908, although he’d described it once as a “little town without lights” with “pigs running loose in the streets.” He was president of his own oil and gas company by 1916, with an interest in improving roads. He helped lay out a state road plan and the national highway numbering system, becoming the champion of a road from Chicago to Los Angeles we know as Route 66.
