The Rev. Clarence W. Knippa has been involved in ministry for more than 60 years. He has been at the center of many causes, such as improving race relations, preserving neighborhoods, addressing homelessness and creating understanding among people of different religions. Knippa currently serves as Pastor Emeritus at Grace Lutheran Church.
He is recognized by his peers as someone who offers sympathy but also always pushes for a solution to community problems. Knippa says that his first congregation, comprised of poor people “on the wrong side of the tracks” in Houston, taught him to respect everyone.
